The Best Zipline Adventure: Soar From Georgia to Alabama

While Whitewater Express is known for whitewater rafting, we also offer some of the best zipline experiences. The Blue Heron Adventure Park has the only zipline in the country that begins in one state and ends in another.  Participants will begin their adventure in Columbus, GA, and cross over the Chattahoochee River into Phenix City, AL, and then back into Columbus, GA at the end of each adventure. Adventures run rain or shine and year-round making the Blue Heron Adventure course always available for an adventure.

Blue Heron Adventure Park

The Blue Heron Adventure Park runs guided adventures, meaning staff members go through the course with participants in order to do the complicated work of hooking up and unhooking guests to and from the ziplines. The Blue Heron Adventure Park also features auto-stops on our ziplines, making our course incredibly beginner friendly as participants do not use leather gloves to stop themselves.

In addition to soaring from one state to another, our first zipline is 1,200ft long and participants cross it at speeds between 35 and 40 miles per hour. At the highest point, zipliners are about 100ft above the Chattahoochee River. All adventures begin with the 1,200ft zipline and end with our 1,000 ft zipline with both ziplines going similar speeds across the river. The Blue Heron Adventure Park is set up so that all participants begin and end in the same place, with the extra course options being strategically placed to allow groups to take a detour through an aerial adventure before meeting back up with our main three ziplines.

1. Flight of the Osprey

The Flight of the Osprey includes three ziplines, as we begin our adventure in Columbus, GA and take our 1,200ft zipline across the river into Phenix City AL. From there we take our 500ft zipline along the Alabama shoreline before taking a short walk to our last zipline. Our last zipline is 1,000ft long and takes us back to Columbus, GA, ending at ground level.

2. Blue Heron Adventure

Blue Heron Adventure is the most popular package and includes 7 ziplines and 4 sky bridges. The Blue Heron adventure starts with the 1,200ft and 500ft ziplines before moving into our Tree Tops course, which includes 4 ziplines, and 4 sky bridges. Once we finish the Tree Tops Course, we take the 1,000ft zipline back to Columbus, GA.

3. Blue Heron Aerial Course 

The Blue Heron Aerial Course is located between the 1,200ft and 500ft ziplines and is an aerial adventure including 10 different aerial challenge elements split into two levels, each level with 5 challenge elements. On this aerial adventure course, articipants will be able to cross a moving suspension bridge, crawl through a suspended tunnel, climb across a spiderweb, test their Tarzan skills by swinging from platform to platform and much more! The bottom section of the Aerial course is about 15ft off the ground, and the upper section being 30ft off the ground right above the lower section. The Blue Heron Aerial Course is available as a stand-alone adventure and as an add on to any trip.

Zipline Information

The Blue Heron Adventure Park runs trips from 9:30am to 5:30pm, and we recommend making a reservation online or over the phone at least 2 hours in advance to ensure staff are set up and ready when you arrive. Make a zipline reservation today!

In order to zipline, kids must be 10 years old, and everyone must weigh at least 70lbs and no more than 265lbs. The Blue Heron Aerial Course is available for families with younger kids, as kids must only be 5 years old and be able to fit in the harness. Participating adults must be able to fit into a harness and weigh no more than 265lbs. 

Participants wear full-body harnesses for all Blue Heron Adventure Park activities, so we recommend clothing that accommodates the harness. Shoes with a back are required so no one loses a show while crossing any of the ziplines. We also recommend weather-appropriate clothing to keep participants comfortable while on their adventures. On warm days, we highly encourage participants to bring water as the longer adventures can be physically challenging in hot weather.
